Sr. Manager / Manager – Projects

Looking for a dynamic professional to drive end-to-end project execution, ensuring smooth delivery from planning to final handover.

Role Summary

The Manager – Projects is responsible for the complete execution of turnkey industrial furnace and capital equipment projects from order receipt through engineering, manufacturing, procurement, installation, commissioning, and final customer handover. The role ensures projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in accordance with the required quality, safety, and technical standards.

The incumbent will work closely with Design, Production, Purchase, Quality, Service, and Customer teams to ensure smooth execution while maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

1. Project Planning & Execution

• Manage the complete project lifecycle from customer purchase order to final project handover.
• Develop detailed project execution plans, milestones, resource allocation, and project schedules.
• Monitor project progress and ensure adherence to committed delivery timelines.
• Prepare project execution schedules using MS Project, Primavera P6, or equivalent planning software.
• Track critical milestones and proactively resolve execution bottlenecks.
• Ensure timely completion of engineering, manufacturing, dispatch, installation, and commissioning activities.

2. Engineering & Cross-Functional Coordination

• Coordinate with Mechanical Design, Electrical Design, Automation, Production, Planning, Purchase, Quality Assurance, Stores, Logistics, Finance, and Service teams to ensure seamless project execution.
• Ensure timely release of engineering drawings, Bills of Materials (BOMs), technical documents, and manufacturing information.
• Review technical specifications and ensure compliance with customer requirements and project standards.
• Conduct regular project review meetings with cross-functional teams to track progress, resolve bottlenecks, and ensure alignment with project schedules.
• Facilitate effective communication among all internal stakeholders to ensure smooth coordination throughout the project lifecycle.

3. Site Execution & Commissioning

• Plan and monitor installation and commissioning activities at customer sites.
• Coordinate with site engineers, contractors, and customers.
• Ensure compliance with approved installation procedures.
• Monitor project progress at site and resolve execution challenges.
• Support commissioning teams until successful performance trials and customer acceptance.

4. Customer & Stakeholder Management

• Serve as the primary point of contact for customers throughout project execution.
• Conduct project review meetings with customers.
• Provide regular progress updates and project status reports.
• Address customer concerns and ensure timely resolution.
• Maintain excellent customer relationships to enhance overall satisfaction.

5. Project Control, Risk Management & Documentation

• Monitor project budgets, expenditures, and overall profitability while ensuring effective utilization of project resources.
• Prepare and review Bills of Quantities (BOQs), project estimates, cost reports, and budget forecasts to support effective financial control.
• Identify potential project risks during planning and execution, develop mitigation strategies, and proactively resolve issues to minimize delays, cost overruns, and operational challenges.
• Maintain complete and accurate project documentation throughout the project lifecycle, including project schedules, Minutes of Meeting (MOMs), inspection reports, Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), commissioning reports, handover documents, and other technical records.
• Prepare and present weekly and monthly project progress reports to management, highlighting project status, key milestones, risks, budget performance, and action plans.
• Ensure proper document control, version management, and compliance with company procedures and customer requirements.

6. Quality & Safety Compliance

• Ensure projects comply with customer specifications and company quality standards.
• Coordinate inspections and quality checks.
• Ensure adherence to statutory regulations and customer safety requirements.
• Promote safe working practices during manufacturing, installation, and commissioning.

Educational Qualification

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
• Project Management certification (PMP/PRINCE2 or equivalent) will be an added advantage.

Experience

• 8–15 years of experience in project execution of industrial equipment, induction furnaces, steel plants, non-ferrous melting systems, or other capital equipment projects.
• Experience in turnkey project execution, installation, and commissioning is preferred.
